When Laura came for her consultation I was blown away but her soft and sweet personality, tiny body frame, and a soul filled with love for her husband Derek. We talked about her session and she asked me to capture more than just maternity photos. She asked me for couples photos - and as she said that tears started pouring down. She has been missing Derek for months as he was away training with the Army. So these photos were extra special to both Laura and Derek.

I cannot rave enough about this beautiful session with Nina! Every shot, every moment we created magic, and the more we shot, the more I got to witness the love unfold! Nina was like a mythical valkyrie that stepped on this earth for me to capture her beautiful pregnancy. Her boyfriend Demetrius, equivalent only to Mars in his grace and masculinity showed such tenderness and love towards Nina. Together, they looked like they descended from the pages of mythology books, and I wish them nothing less but amazing adventures in their soon-to-be parenthood!

As I wrapped up my wedding weekend, I got to begin my new week with something even more precious than the sanctity of matrimony. I welcomed a little 5 day old JB into my studio, accompanied by his charismatic parents and their best friend Maddie.

Given this chilly November morning I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to spend it. JB - short for Joshua James Ball Jr, was literary - a perfect baby, waking up like clockwork just to be fed and then right back into the sleepy slumber in the cozy wraps and blankets. His yawns, his smiles, even the little farts - we had it at all and the studio space was filled with constant 'aww' and 'oh my gosh' and 'he is so cute'! And rightfully he is! The cutest little boy that Jessica and Josh have created!

Thank you for having me capture the beginning of his journey in this world!

Watching my little clients grow up is simply amazing and realizing they get so big so fast is also a little sad, because I inevitably think of how fast time flies.

I met Erika & Phillip unofficially at a birthday party when Hazel was still in Erika's tummy. Then I got to meet Hazel when she was only 7 days new, and now she is rocking photo sessions with mom and on her own. Baby Hazel is the happiest little one I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with and these picture show exactly how happy she is and how much love she has for her parents.

Here are my favorites of this 6 months old punk princess.

The world of miracles and magic

Often, after a session, I sit down to take a moment and reflect on my work, on myself, and on what I have achieved and yet have to achieve. And in that process I ask myself if what I have captured truely represents my style? And what is my style? Have I found it? And while I think about all those things I realize that the question I should be asking is: have I captured the essence of innocence and true life and love?

When I photograph babies I take a few seconds just to look at them and quietly think out loud on how precious they are. They are a blank page - their story is just beginning to be writen, while mine is so far along. What will theirs be like?

Each child is so different from the other but each share something with the others - they were made in love and their smiles while they dream reflect that.

For gazing, you see, has its limits.
And the more gazed-upon world
wants to prosper in love.

Work of the eyes is done,
begin heart-work now
on those images in you, those captive ones;
for you conquered them: but you still don’t know them.
— Rainer Rilke

That's what makes every session truely magical and that's where I believe I find myself - capture a smile, or a sweet yawn, and sometimes even the cries - the true life of a newborn - that's my style.
